Notarised record of Matilde O'Bourke buying her freedom from Marina O'Bourke, Cienfuegos, Cuba 1871.
The surname belongs to a woman of Irish origin and a woman of African origin. The Irish woman inherited ownership of the African woman.
The O'Bourke name came from Limerick and became a marker of property in people in Cuba. Multiple diasporas and heritage - Were they related?
